RAY COLLINS

Ray played the roles of an Irish emigrant and a U.S. Immigration Inspector in the Hypothetical Theatre Company's production of Ellis Island Stories which ran for eight seasons from 1992 until 1999 in the Little Immigrant Theatre at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum in New York Harbor. The play was written and directed by Amy Feinberg, Director of the Hypothetical Theater Company.

An American Wake

Despite the busy schedule of Ellis Island Stories Ray also found time to write and perform his solo show An American Wake; playing guitar, mandolin, tin whistle, and the bodhran (Irish drum) and a wee jig or two thrown in for good measure. Singing songs of emigration and reciting poignant poems, he enthralled audiences with stories about his fellow countrymen and women’s search for a better life in America and introduced his audiences to the melancholy yearnings of those left behind, many of whom would never see their loved ones again.
